Happy Christmas

We are trying to cut down the number of traditional Christmas cards that we send each year, so instead of buying yet more cards, envelopes and stamps, we will send something electronic, and a bit more personal.

Christmas is a Christian festival, and many of you receiving this are ringers, so I have selected a picture I took last year during the Inveraray ringing weekend. For those who don't know, the tower at Inveraray houses the world's second heaviest ten-bell ring. They produce a glorious sound, made more special by the wonderful highland setting overlooking Loch Fyne.

Not to be out-done by the commercial cards, I have added a snow picture that is unlike any you will see in the shops. Our Lake District holiday this year began with severe blizzards on the day we arrived, followed by clear sunny (but very cold) days for the rest of the week. The picture here was taken on our first day walking. The skyline is the summit ridge of Wetherlam, and the small prominence just ahead is appropriately called 'The Bell'.

Happy Christmas, and best wishes for the New Year
